Tidewater Physicians for Women is a division of Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care with offices in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. Locations:
  • Norfolk, VA.
  • Virginia Beach, VA.
  • Must be able to travel to both locations.

Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday.
  • 8-hour shift.

Requirements To Be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Tidewater Physicians for Women:
  • 5 years of obstetrical experience in an OB/GYN medical practice.
  • ARDMS Certified in obstetrics.
  • Familiar with AIUM standards and practices.
  • Must be able to perform first, second and third-trimester scans according to current standards.
  • Must be able to perform GYN sonograms independently.
  • Must be comfortable assisting the physicians with sonohysterography, IUD placement and removal.
  • Must be competent in OB/GYN 3D acquisition, fetal doppler, and GYN doppler.
  • Candidate should be able to recognize pathology while scanning.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic OB/GYN ultrasounds on patients.
  • Provide professional, adequate, and friendly patient care.
  • Review patient charts for all necessary information pertinent to performing the procedure.
  • Reporting the diagnostic data, including normal anatomy, as well as any recognized abnormalities.
  • Entering the patients report into EMR.
  • Conferring with the physicians about patients’ sonograms.
  • Assisting physicians with invasive studies.
  • Notify MA‘s of any need-to-know information about patients.
  • Maintaining patient safety.
  • Maintaining AIUM standards.
  • Collecting and submitting exams to AIUM when applying for reaccreditation.
  • Maintaining CME’s.
  • Meeting OSHA requirements.
  • Cleaning and sterilizing the ultrasound probes.
  • Proper use and maintenance of the Trophon Sterilization device.
  • Report any malfunctions of ultrasound equipment.
  • Cleaning the ultrasound room.
  • Stocking the ultrasound room.

Salary: From $34.00 per hour based upon OB/GYN experience.
